Between Norman-French army of Duke William II of Normandy of about 15,000 soliders & the English army under King Harold II of less then 5,000 soldiers
What?
The Battle of Hastings took place after a dispute as to who was supposed to take over the English throne. The Norman-French army combined the forces of archers, cavalry, & infantry to easily defeat the English army of only infantry. William, the Duke of Normandy, won with an overwhelming military power and buried any hope of Harold ever receiving the throne.
*This battle marked the last time a foreign invasion of British Isles had been successful.
